The Pope called for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages in his Easter address. Passionate protests across Israel call for an early election to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Bibi is standing firm that a reelection is what Hamas wants. IDF ground forces are fighting intense battles within the Shifa hospital. The Hamas offices within the hospital are a source of valuable intelligence that assists the IDF in their Gaza campaign, and may reveal the location of hostages. We recognise the exceptional courage of the soldiers active in this highly dangerous work. In the West Bank, Israeli police […]

The Zionist Federation of Australia supports the Coalition’s and crossbench’s support for a judicial inquiry into campus antisemitism, and urges the Government to back it.

ZFA Director of Public Affairs Bren Carlill said, “The situation on campus is unprecedented and deeply troubling. Jewish students are being targeted, are being intimidated, and are staying away from campus. The level of antisemitism on campus was already at intolerable levels before the Hamas-Israel war began, and has only worsened since.

Dr Carlill continued, “The Australian community has the right to know what our publicly-funded universities did when they became aware of this antisemitism and what processes – if any – they put in place to reduce it, both before 7 October and since.”

Dr Carlill added, “Any inquiry into the current intolerable situation must have the power to compel university administrators to appear and produce relevant documentation. Any review that doesn’t will ultimately fail to understand the situation or to have the means to provide the recommendations to fix it. We are agnostic as to what form this review takes – a Senate inquiry or a judicial inquiry – but what we do know is that the situation is urgent and serious, and it is well-passed time for action.”

The Australian community have a right to know how much time and money is spent pandering to you lot vs. other larger groups that have issues, who are not shifting goalposts in definitions or using proprietary statistics/conflating issues for political expediency (for a foreign state - never mind what that foreign state is actually doing …)

Good. And thank you

MUST WATCH!! Democracy Now!, April 12, 2024: American Surgeons Return from Gaza, Call for End of U.S. Culpability in Genocide We speak with two doctors who've just returned after two weeks at the European Hospital in Gaza. Dr. Feroze Sidhwa and Dr. Mark Perlmutter are co-authors of a new piece for Common Dreams titled "As Surgeons, We Have Never Seen Cruelty Like Israel's Genocide in Gaza." They describe a hospital "hanging on by a thread," with the majority of patients being young children, and bombing targeted at Muslim Palestinians "concentrated at the time of evening prayer." "Genocide was the overwhelming impression that I got," says Perlmutter. "This is dehumanization. The purpose of this is to kill a population." He also says, of U.S. responsibility in this genocide, "We're buying the bullets and the gun for the gunman who's going to the school and killing the children." "If our support stops, the occupation stops," adds Sidhwa, urging other Americans to push political leaders and public discourse against the country's support of Israel. "We have to raise the domestic cost for these policies." Dr. Sidhwa and Dr. Perlmutter worked with the Palestinian American Medical Association in collaboration with the World Health Organization in Gaza. Collectively, they have previously volunteered medical assistance in the West Bank, Haiti and Ukraine, and after 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the Boston Marathon bombing. youtu.be/QhI2Rlt3SSc
